Marriot International model signals bearishness.

Of the many names set to report earnings tomorrow, Marriott (MAR) offers the clearest directional signal.

The stock typically doesn’t move much on earnings (an average move of 2.75%), making it a relatively low-risk trade with minimal earnings-related volatility.

Over the last week, the stock is down 8.5%, roughly double its average weekly move—and historically, MAR tends to see continuation after such sharp declines, suggesting a bearish setup.

Short interest is down 7.5%, which in MAR’s case is also a bearish indicator. Interestingly, short sellers in this stock are often on the wrong side of the trade, making this decline in short positioning noteworthy.
